How we do things 'round here . . .
Our
farm stand is open from May though Halloween, or thereabouts. We're less precise than we'd like to be about this,
but this year, the plants aren't growing as fast as they have in years past. It must be all these freak April snows and
high 20 degree nights.
That said, it will be spring soon enough and when it is, on Wednesdays, we serve subscribers
only from 3 - 8 pm. If we have food left from the day before, our stand will be open to non-subscribers Thursdays
from 3 - 8 pm. Please check the website weekly to see whether we'll be open to non-subscribers.
At Morning Owl Farm stand, you'll find fresh, naturally-grown
herbs, duck eggs, vegetables, plant starts and flowers. In addition, we'll have duck egg quiches, fruit, pasture-raised
chickens, jams, breads, flour, personal care products and much more. Our aim is to provide products that originate from as
close to Boise as possible, but we may at times bring in organic goods from Washington, Oregon and California, to ensure that
you have the variety you expect at a farm stand. The bottom line is that if we didn't grow it, you'll know it.
Promise.
Because the number
of shares we issue are limited, please send an e-mail to check their availability. As of this posting, we are selling
only a minimum of 400 shares per order and have just a few orders left at this rate.
Morning Owl Farm shares are redeemed at the farm stand
just like cash. One share equals one dollar. When you arrive at the stand, you'll see that all products and produce will
be signed with a dollar value. The total for your purchase, then, will be deducted from your total number of shares.
This is a new way of running
our CSA, but we think it will prove to be successful and satisfying to our eaters, because as a share holder YOU will select
what you want and how much you want. YOU will have the option of using your shares to purchase plant starts, produce, herbs,
flowers, pasture-raised and pasture-grazin' duck eggs or chickens. By buying shares now, you help us get seeds and supplies
ordered and give us the faith we need to venture out on 9 degree mornings to gather eggs and water plant starts in the greenhouse.
Together we will make it work.
Now, come on spring!
